The III Agro-Hub PhD Students Meeting brings together in Seville researchers from six CSIC centers in Andalusia
- Around 150 predoctoral researchers will present the results of their experimental work to promote scientific cooperation in Agricultural Sciences in Andalusia.
- The event will take place on the 12th and 13th of March at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) in Seville, a joint center of the CSIC and the University of Seville.
The Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) will host the third edition of the Agro-Hub Andalucía PhD Students Meeting on the 12th and 13th of March of 2026. This event, aimed at predoctoral researchers from both CSIC’s own and joint research centers, seeks to showcase the results derived from their experimental work and to promote scientific cooperation in the field of Agricultural Sciences in Andalusia.
The meeting, which already has more than 150 registered participants, will bring together researchers from six CSIC centers in Andalusia: the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF, CSIC–University of Seville), the Zaidín Experimental Station (EEZ, CSIC), the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (IAS, CSIC), the Institute of Fats (IG, CSIC), the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Seville (IRNAS, CSIC), and the Institute of Subtropical and Mediterranean Horticulture La Mayora (IHSM-La Mayora, CSIC–University of Málaga). Researchers from the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training (IFAPA) will also take part in the meeting.
The scientific program includes 32 oral presentations and more than 65 posters addressing topics aligned with the current challenges of the biotechnology and agri-food sectors. These include the biochemistry and molecular biology of cyanobacteria, microalgae, and plants; crop genetic improvement; efficient water resource management; environmental sustainability; plant–microorganism interactions; and the valorization of agricultural by-products.
This third edition of the Andalucía Agro-Hub PhD Students Meeting will provide a space for knowledge exchange and the generation of synergies among research groups, while also contributing to the scientific career development of predoctoral researchers.
What is Agro-Hub?
Agro-Hub Andalucía is an initiative that connects CSIC centers dedicated to agricultural and agri-food sciences in Andalusia. Its goal is to foster scientific collaboration, promote joint projects, and strengthen the training of early-career researchers in key areas such as plant biotechnology, agricultural sustainability, and crop improvement. Its activities include scientific meetings and knowledge-exchange events among researchers.
According to its 2025 report, CSIC has 19 research centers in Agricultural Sciences, with a total of 195 research groups and 2447 projects currently underway.
About IBVF
The Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) is a joint center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Seville dedicated to the study of plant biology, with particular focus on photosynthesis, metabolism, and the biotechnology of cyanobacteria, microalgae, and plants. Its research aims to understand the fundamental processes of plant life and contribute to the development of biotechnological solutions for more sustainable and efficient agriculture.
