Researcher Manuel Jesús Mallén Ponce has recently been recognized by the City Council of Aznalcázar, his hometown, for his outstanding career in the field of scientific research. Through this recognition, the municipality highlights the quality, impact, and international reach of his work. Manuel Jesús began his research career studying the redox regulation mediated by thioredoxin TrxA in several fundamental cellular processes, such as carbon fixation and protein synthesis. More recently, during his postdoctoral stage, he has continued investigating the nutritional regulation of the TOR protein signaling pathway, one of the most highly conserved cellular pathways among eukaryotes and essential for the control of growth and metabolism. In 2023, his scientific work was recognized with the “Ezequiel Martínez” Award from the Federation of Andalusian Athenaeums for young Andalusian researchers. More recently, he was awarded a Ramón y Cajal grant, consolidating his profile as a researcher and strengthening his contribution to the advancement of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in highly relevant areas.
