Research Interests

My research career addresses two main topics for the understanding of phototrophic and planktonic organisms: the biology of free-living photosynthetic prokaryotes, mainly Anabaena sp. as a model to study multicellularity, N₂ fixation and differentiation in bacteria, and the N₂-fixing cyanobacteria’s interaction with the environment focused on the study of marine symbiosis diatom-diazotrophic associations and the metabolic interaction between symbiont and host.
