Research Interests
My research career has been focused on the study of carbon metabolism in plants and its regulation, initially in the pre-doctoral stage through the study of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase in wheat plants and, later, in the post-doctoral stage through the study of the functions of plant invertases and their relationship with source-sink relationships. Subsequently, after re-incorporation to the IBVF, first as a I3P post-doctoral researcher and then as a Ramón y Cajal researcher, my work has focused on the study of the metabolic response to oxidative stress and the redox component of metabolic regulation, an aspect in which I have worked until now. Currently, my interests and research work are related to the study of plant adaptation to environmental stresses and the improvement of stress resistance through interaction with beneficial microorganisms, aspects on which I will focus my research from now on, with the aim of generating useful applications in the response of plants to the current climate change conditions.
