Research Interests

My studies are focused on the external factors, particularly light quality and day length (photoperiod), that modulate plant development and physiology. Senior Scientist at CSIC (2009) and Scientific Researcher (2023), founder of the Plant Development Unit (PDU) at IBVF, I help to conceive the external coincidence model of flowering and pioneered the application of gene co-expression networks in the evolution of plant photoperiod response. I am interested in molecular studies of the photoperiodic signal in plant physiology, in the interplay of light signalling with other external factors, the application of Systems Biology techniques, and their possible biotechnological applications.
