Federico Valverde takes over as director of the IBVF
Federico Valverde Albacete, a researcher at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF), has taken over as director of the institute. Meanwhile, José Luis Crespo González has stepped down from the post following the end of his tenure at the helm of the centre.
The new management team will also comprise Irene Rosa García Fernández as technical deputy director and Rocío López Igual as scientific deputy director. With this appointment, the IBVF is embarking on a new phase aimed at strengthening its scientific activity and its national and international profile. The institute is currently a modern research centre focused on the study of phototrophic biology, utilising specialised technologies in biochemistry and molecular biology.
About Federico Valverde
Federico Valverde Albacete is a Research Fellow at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and founder of the Plant Development Unit (PDU) at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis.
He graduated with a degree in Biology from the University of Seville in 1992 and obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from the same university in 1999. After completing his doctoral studies, he undertook postdoctoral fellowships at the John Innes Centre (Norwich, UK) and the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (Cologne, Germany), two internationally renowned centres in plant biology.
