Research Interests

My research focuses on the study of the regulation of gene expression in model cyanobacteria (Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 and Nostoc sp. PCC 7120). More specifically, in analyzing the adaptation of these organisms to environmental conditions, especially aspects related to carbon and nitrogen metabolism. We are studying different mutants affected by glycogen metabolism or specific regulators of carbon flow. Based on basic knowledge we explore possible biotechnological applications of these mutants.
