Research Interests
My research interests focus on nutrient regulation of the kinase TOR (target of rapamycin) in photosynthetic organisms. TOR balances the synthesis and degradation of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates or nucleic acids in response to nutrients and cellular energy to promote cell growth. The main objective is to identify and understand the nutrient signals that control TOR activity using the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a model organism.
