Formation
Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, University of Córdoba, 1998
PhD in Biochemistry, European Mention, University of Córdoba, 2005
Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis, 2006-2011
Permanent Researcher at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis, 2011 to present
Research Interests
My scientific activity focuses on nitrogen metabolism in photosynthetic microorganisms, covering nitrate assimilation, nitrogen fixation, and symbiosis. During my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Córdoba, I characterized nitrate and nitrite transport systems in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. In my postdoctoral stage, I worked on intercellular communication in nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria, describing intercellular communication channels in Anabaena sp. PCC 7120. Currently, I lead the “Plant-Cyanobacteria Symbiosis” group at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF), researching cyanobacteria-plant symbiosis and its application in biofertilizers. I have published more than 50 research articles, obtained two patents, and led multiple projects with companies and public organizations.
