Research Interests
My research interests have focused on the study of the structure/function relationship in metalloproteins, mainly centered on electron transfer in oxygenic photosynthesis using time-resolved kinetic techniques. I have also studied the biochemical and metabolic response to oxidative stress. Currently our efforts are focused on improving primary productivity in photosynthetic microorganisms under stress conditions, such as metal limitation, high irradiance or high temperature. The final objective is to enhance the biotechnological capabilities of these microalgae under climatic conditions that limit their commercial production in the upcoming conditions of global warming.
